My name is Laura Whelan

I am a multidisciplinary artist based in Dublin. For many years my work focused on wearable sculpture and collaborating with performance artists to create pieces for stage. I have a lifelong interest in craft and I enjoy learning traditional techniques and incorporating them into my practice as well as sharing my knowledge through community based workshops for children and adults.

I am currently studying in NCAD, where I have begun to explore themes which are deeply personal to myself. Some of these themes include: chronic pain, disability, religious iconography, nature, witchcraft & women's rights. I'm intrigued by how these areas weave together in our society, and how they are woven into my own personal journey.

My goal for my practice is to fuse aspects of fine art, craft and design to create a unique vision, but always with a touch of sparkle and fun X
